Wow, it’s been soo long since I’ve updated about Lamar! He thinks he’s such a hot shot, always has been in the spot light, weather for being good of plain naughty. He’s been learning a few things, or I should say I’m trying to teach him some new things. Like coming to sit by my side and to stay QUITE in church!!!
Haha and he just reminded me that he’s funny. Whenever I’m at the computer he comes up and sticks his head on my arm, or sits on my lap.
Lets see, so what’s really NEW with Lamar. . .it seams like he’s mellowing out, just a bit, which is really exciting! But everything seams to seam pretty much the same. I think he’s done growing so now we just have a lot to learn, and to get him ready for being a seeing eye dog!

To be perfectly honest I get annoyed with Lamar a lot. I know, in the beginning it was all hugs and kisses, but now......I just want to be perfectly honest with you, and share all the stories, good and bad, and all around funny!
First of all he’s got this new thing that gets really old! He likes to HIT people! I find that a little odd. Sometimes he hits me, other times he just wants to hold my hand, yea, weird!
Next thing on his list of favorites is, he likes to put all kinds of treasures in his crate for ‘later’. Duck tape rolls, flashlights, I mean this dog eats everything. I can’t believe he never gets sick, I would if I ate what he does! I know it’s not to good, I’m trying to break him of that habit!
NEXT, he SMELLS, he never even had good puppy breath. The crazy people that like that smell! But anyway, he farts all the time, his breath stinks like crazy, just all around smelly! The brings me to another story.....Yesterday Lamar had a vet appointment, which he absolutely loved. Oh yea, rub my tummy give me a shot and say I’m cute! That’s what Lamar thinks of the vet. But after the appointment we had some extra time so we took him to Kassia’s work, Fins, Feathers, Paws, and Claws(a pet store). Lamar absolutely loved that. My mom was going to let him pick out a treat. I intervened, he still picked on himself, but I pulled out the breath bones for him to pick from. I also got him some breath mints for at church:)
I’m not trying to pin point all his bad traits so I’ll say something good about him. He is AMAZING with kids! He likes to give them tons of kisses, but in the end he is a good baby-sitter and keeps the kids off the steps. Oh and yea, he likes there toys also.
Another good thing about Lamar is he is an extremely good walker. Walks right by my side,(or beside the stroller) and sticks his nose up at all the neighbor’s barking dogs!

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve told you when going on with Lamar. I’ve been growing closer to him everyday. He has such a character it’s crazy! I’m working on training him really hard right now. He’s a pretty fast learner, which is good. He high five's and all it’s really neat to see him perform:) Oh, and he still likes sitting on my lap. Such a little cuddle bug. The other night when we had a big storm he wouldn’t let me go to sleep cause he wanted to hold my hand. And every time I left go, he’d sit up star at me for a wile like what did you do that for then he stuck out his hand again. He’s so cute I couldn’t resist:+) And just to show you a little about him here’s a picture....

Vicki Hennig was at our house again to talk with us about Lamar. She was concerned that we weren't making it to the 4-H meetings and truly being totally committed. It’s true, right from the beginning my mom wasn’t really committed to going to club. My dad said I could do a seeing eye dog and that was it. When we first got Lamar, I did everything right, but as time went on taking Lamar out on the leash every time he had to go Park was getting a little annoying. Lamar has a very important roll. It’s not nice to just treat him like a family dog and then wham, when he goes back everything has to change. I think all of my family is learning from this experience with a Seeing Eye Dog, in training. We are now totally committed and I feel really good about it! What a relief, and reward once we have accomplished our goal, together!

Lamar’s new favorite thing to do is ride my Go Cart with me. He is so funny! He still likes getting into trouble, but I’d say that hobby is dyeing down:) He has also become quite a trash digger.

Just Cute

I added a bunch of Pix all around the blog, very cute ones, better cheek um out!

April 23, 2007

Again, time for a Volley ball game. My dad and Nate’s big night. The playoffs! I know it was 4-H night, but we had to go to the game. Lamar did great, and guess what else. There was another girl there and she had a german shepherd pup named, Kate. I took Lamar over to meet Kate at the end of the game. Oh by the way Grace community, my church is no longer in the finals:( I can totally see a change in Lamar. He now sits nicely in church and is getting so much better with everything:) Yay!!!

April 18, 2007

Today my mom decided to make home made bread again. She grinds the wheat with with a wheat grinder. Lamar just happened to be sitting right next to her when she started up the grinder. The look in his eyes just made me start laughing. Oh but he wasn’t laughing, he though we were all being invaded by the boogie monster. He ran up to me and put his cute, but concerned face on my lap. I knew what that meant. By big puppy wanted me to comfort him by giving him a big hug and letting him sit on my lap and talk to him with sweet words of love. I did just that. It felt nice to have my “little puppy” back:)
And then when it wa all over as the mechanical monster was fading off, Lamar thought it a good time to celebrate by singing along with a little tune. He sounded so cute, today was the first time he had ever doggie sang! I told him that he had a beautiful voice.

April 10, 2007

Every Monday night my dad has a Volleyball game and I try going and bring along Lamar. He was being a little stinker last night so I didn’t get to see much of the game. He was faking that he had to go park just so he could go outside! My new training tectonic is when he barks that I spray him in the face with a water bottle and say NO. Well that was working great, until Sam broke the water bottle. That was sorta embarrassing too, because then there was a big wet spot on the floor and it looked like something it wasn’t. Better yet I was trying to dry up the spilled water, so if someone walked by when I was doing that they really would have thought! Oh well, as long as it wasn’t actually him, it’s all good.

April 6, 2007

Once again we have baby squirrels to care for....but this time we have a “mommy” too! Lamar just seams to know when it’s feeding time. He walks up to me and gives me those eyes until I let him sit on my lap. I think he really just wants some of the milk formula but.....these little squirrels are quite messy and Lamar being the neat dog that he is(not really), he can’t stand to let that milk stay on there faces. He licks it off and then I continue with the feeding.
Right now the little bugger is siting on my feet, that’s one of the very odd things he does. I don’t know if I told you this before but I just have to tell you again! OK, so I go and sit on our steps leading to upstairs and Lamar comes and sits right beside me, on the same step, just like I am sitting. Or I’ll be sitting on the ground and he will sit on my lap and chew on a toy or something. I tell him that he’s an Embarrassment to Nature, but I do think it is very cute and funny. Lamar definitely has his own unique character! Yea, he just likes sitting on things, what a weirdo:)

April 2, 2007

So many places to go things to accomplish....
....Today Kassia and I had a dentist appointment, last time we were at the office the secretary said to bring Lamar the next time we came. So that was his outing for today, and what a good experience! Going up the stairs everything echoes and that took a little time for him to get used to. There was also an elevator and he did great on that! I just wish Lamar wouldn't bark so much in church! He does an amazing job in worship, well for a dog anyway, he sleeps the whole time:) But then, when the kids release for sunday school he thinks he gets to go too, oh bother how to explain things to a dog that thinks he is a human? He really has this funny habit of acting more like a human that a dog, especially how he sits and sleeps!!! He hee, maybe he believes in evolution?!

March 30, 2007

Lamar is growing up right fine! He still has a little problem with eating everything and biting everyone. But I think he will get over that when he gets his “big” teeth! He can now; Come on command, sit, Lay down(down), give me his paw, and high five! He still needs to look more alive when he is walking -not pulling on sticks, looking behind, and having me hull him along. But we are working on that! And he still likes to jump down the steps.....it’s cute, but wait till he gets with a blind person! Opsy:)

March 28, 2007

Lamar still thinks he is a lap dog even though he is around 35 lb. and is still growing!!! I like it though, it reminds me of when he was a little puppy:) Lamar and I spent the last week at Reinford's. wile the rest of my family was in Haiti. I think it was a really good experience for him because there was always people around him and he was getting used to kids. At our house it’s usually only me and my mom at home, and sometimes only my mom. It’s good for him to get used to more people! We went to his Seeing eye club on Monday night. I think we both learned a lot of new things and Lamar is defiantly improving on his skills!
Oh, did I every tell you that Lamar loves wash baskets? He’s almost can’t fit in them anymore but he still tries sleeping and playing in them!

March 9, 2007

Today early in the morning we went to Crystal Cave for a home school field trip. Before we started the tour the guide told everyone not to touch anything. If we did he said it would stump the growth for many years or something like that. Well that scared me, Lamar licks everything!!! Lucky for me Mrs. Morgan had Lamar a great part of the time wile at the Cave. She said he did wonderful, and sniffed everything!

February 20, 2007

I never told you about his Wal*Mart incident!!! And well I guess maybe I should! OK, so I called up Wal*Mart and asked if I could bring in my seeing eye puppy in training. When the lady said: "Yes, sure thing why not!" she had no idea WHY NOT! Pretty much he went po po on the carpet in the girls section and I had no Idea what I was going to do. And that wasn't the worst of it. I wasn't prepared at all! I had forgotten my clean up kit and he went diarrhea!!!
So this is what I did.....and if you know me I am totally grossed out by germs, but anyone would think this is gross! My mind was just going crazy so I ran to the bathroom holding Lamar. Yes as you know everyone just had to stop and pet Lamar. All I could think was if they just knew what HE did! Oh he wasn’t embarrassed in the leased, I was the one with the red face. I grabbed a bunch of paper towels and went back to clean up. Then it hit me, what am I going to do with this pile of poop? I grabbed- Lamar, my purse, and crumbled up the towel and poop in my hand and rushed back to the bathroom. What if someone had saw me doing it, I don’t know what I would have done! When I found Kassia and told her what had happened all she could do was laugh and tell me: "You know Kels, they are probably back there watching you on the cameras!"

February 19, 2007

Today was a Monday and I work on Mondays! Soooo, my mom had Lamar for the day. I guess she wanted to go get something done so she put Lamar in Alysa’s care. Alysa must not have been watchin' him too well cause he got into his bag of food and was just chewing away:( He has the fattest little tummy I ever did see, poor little guy, he must have such a tummy ace!

February 8, 2007

There isn’t much happening with Lamar, well besides his.....hight? Yeah, he is really just springing right up there! Soon I will just be able to put my hand down and pet him:) Tomorrow he goes back to the vet to get some more shots, poor little guy! Oh yeah, Kassia and I went to the Mall today, and took Lamar of course:) He again was the center of attention and I didn't get much shopping done, but oh well it was a good thing for him to experience!

January 29, 2007

Today.....well let me just explain! I thought Lamar was “Park” trained, but I learned today that he still has a little ways to go, but it was somewhat my fault:(( So the big hit, or should I say jolt was when he found a dead smelly mouse and was chewing on it, ewe!!!!
I called the vet and they said to bring him right in. They said he was fine and he hadn’t punctured the mouse’s skin and so we left. We thought we would stop by the pet store to say hello to Kassia and then went home.
OH, also today was his first time ever to go up the stairs ALL by himself!!!!

January 10, 2007

Lamar is growing wrestles in my arms, ha ha, it’s just cause he is growing up. Too fast for my likening, well sorta:( I like that he is sleeping through the night and doesn’t go to the bathroom in the house. I wouldn’t say he is altogether “park trained” but he is getting there:)

January 5, 2007

Last night Lamar slept all night, well, he woke up twice but then went right back to bed, no park times!!!! I think it was because I slept next to him and put him on his bed tie down:) In a little wile we will be heading up to the Cabin. I think Lamar will love that, and get all the attention in the word!!!
I thought this was a cute picture:

January 4, 2007

Lamar now hopes everywhere he goes. He is so funny and I can defiantly see change in his character now that he is 8 weeks old!
One night I was getting ready for bed...and so was Lamar. He was rearranging and adding things to his crate. It was so cute watching him pull a big blanket into his crate to make a nice bed for himself:)

December 31, 2006

Wow, today Lamar was a little movie star. I couldn’t even get through all the people that wanted to touch him. A lot of little kids were following me around, he was the center of attention! In a little wile we will be heading out again for a New years Eve party, actually 2! Lamar is such a little rascal. He knows the word no, but he pretends that he doesn’t. He waits until i have to get up and pull him away from the; shoe, chair, or whatever he was chewing on or eating. Then he jumps up and runs. I have to laugh, it is just so cute, but I know I can’t let him do it:(

December 30, 2006

Lamar is such a bundle of joy. Just looking at him makes me smile:) I love picking him up, hugging him and kissing him, but I don’t think he likes being held and just siting the best:( Tomorrow, Sunday will be a crazy day for him! Actually I just got off the phone with our church office, I was double checking with them that i am allowed to take Lamar to church. They said yes! I can’t wait, I get to show him to all my friends. Everyone is so excited to see him!
The seeing eye place has different names for thinks like Go park is for go to the bathroom. And...he is getting very good at going outside to the bathroom. Sometimes he goes to the door and cries a little letting me know he has to go. He is pretty much work, it’s going to be hard for me to get my school done! Today I gave him to the Lord. Lamar is also learning how to come very well.

December 28, 2006

I have been burning time by playing games with my sister all day. We played Spit, Kings in the corner and Monopoly. Then I did a few magic tricks and played solitaire for the first time in my life! Yesterday I cleaned my room so nice it looks unreal. I dusted, vacuumed and organized. I baby-sat a puppy before and I know they can do damage to any and everything in there reach.
I don’t think it has kicked in yet that I am actually getting a Seeing eye puppy in a few minutes. I just feel like it can’t be true. Yet I have been planing, preparing and waiting for his arrival. The man that is dropping Lamar off called once already and said he would be a little later. Around 2:15
Probably next time I write to you I will have Lamar with me!
